NYSAIS Attendee Norms & Disclaimers

Attendee Norms

We invite you to be a part of a NYSAIS event (e.g., Workshop, Dinner/Meeting, Conference, Committee Meeting, Roundtable, Institute, Symposium, Accreditation Visit, etc) in a spirit of curiosity, friendliness, open-mindedness, inclusivity, and respect. We will not tolerate harassment in any form.

At a NYSAIS professional learning event, you agree to:

  • Commit to being a supportive community member.
  • Be fully engaged.
  • Respect other attendees, presenters, and staff.
  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of others.
  • Respect the space and everything and everyone in it. Leave the space as you found it.
  • Be a responsible representative of your school.
  • Follow the rules and guidelines established by the venue.

Additionally:

  • Smoking is permitted in designated areas only.
  • At residential conferences and institutes, attendees will be subject to the venue’s guest policies, and may be refused service at onsite bars, lounges, and at NYSAIS-sponsored social/cocktail receptions for rowdy and unruly behavior and/or showing signs of overconsumption.

Individuals who are unable to meet these norms and expectations may be asked to leave the event, and depending on the situation, their respective schools may be informed.
