A: Anyone from a NYSAIS member school.
A: We will build a small, strong cohort group of diversity leaders of promise from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. The cohort is limited to 20 participants.
A: The deadline for applications is March 1, 2023. Admissions decisions will be made by April 2023.
A: A full academic year commitment to participate enthusiastically in all aspects of the program. This includes: two residential retreats (opening and closing), one residential conference, one regional governance workshop, a series of webinars, the annual NYSAIS Diversity Symposium, a mentor partnership and an online community with regular meetings.
A: The program fee covers the cost of entrance, room and board at all conferences, webinars and membership in the online community. Participants are responsible for the cost of transportation to and from sessions and any additional books.
A: Participants’ schools will be billed for the cost of the program once participants have been accepted. The fee is due by June 1, 2023.
A: Efforts have been made to schedule face-to-face meetings in central locations. By creating an online community and webinars on important topics, we will expand learning beyond the face-to-face.
A: There are several outstanding leadership programs for independent school leaders. The Justice, Equity, and Diversity Institute is unique and has been created to enable participants to develop their capacity to lead in areas of equity and justice. Participants will learn from facilitators, experienced independent school leaders, peers within their cohort group, and their mentors.
A: The Institute has been created for busy professionals working on a full-time basis. The pace of the program will be manageable.
A: Cohort members will receive a certificate of completion after meeting all program requirements. The Justice, Equity, and Diversity Institute is not currently affiliated with a credit-granting college.
