Role of NYSAIS Business Affairs Council

The Business Affairs Council (BAC) of NYSAIS is comprised of school business officers who volunteer their efforts to serve other business managers in a variety of ways.  Our primary objective is to foster networking and support among fellow business managers throughout NYS and to bring relevant issues to the forefront.  We also encourage participation through national organizations such as NBOA.  The BAC’s role is not to provide duplicate technical information and resources, but to act as a conduit for information vital to NYS schools.

  • The Communication Committee of the BAC is involved in organizing regional networking for business managers.  The goal is to provide a support system through which similar issues and challenges may be addressed.  Communications also entail the utilization of the NYSAIS website to disseminate information impacting the independent schools of New York State.
  • The BAC Conference Committee plans and conducts the annual Business Affairs Conference held in May, which features speakers and workshops that focus on key issues facing Business Managers today.
  • The BAC R&D Committee explores partnerships and consortiums to help member schools save money and other resources.  Prior efforts of the R&D Committee included establishing the health care consortium, securing a discounted office supply purchasing program through Quill and Office Depot, as well as a discounted Microsoft Office Licensing program for volume purchases.
  • The Membership Committee of the BAC selects members to join the Business Affairs Committee and to become directly involved in the activities described above.  Please contact Ed Knapp (eknapp@loyola-nyc.org), if you would like to submit your name for future consideration.
